Bibliotherapy with Children and Adolescents
How can pastors and educators support help children and their families who are in the midst of a difficult situation such as death, divorce, or chronic illness? One way is to use bibliotherapy – a process that connects children with books that might help them think about, reflect on, and understand their own experiences. MACE student Marcia Rauch, who is also an elementary school teacher, has prepared an article to help you consider bibliotherapy as a tool you might use in ministry, or with your own children. In the days ahead, she’ll be sharing some bibliographies that she has developed around particular themes in children’s lives that might be illuminated through a book.
