Uni the Unicorn and the Dream Come True by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

Comment:. Thomas and his skepticism would have fit in well in our current age. We find ourselves questioning all types of things presented as truth, checking to see if a story is described on snopes.com, or an image was photoshopped. Skepticism and doubt aren’t inherently bad things, but historically we in the church have given Thomas a hard time for being that way. What if we focused instead on how belief changed Thomas? The transformation that comes from belief can also be seen in the land of the unicorns. When Uni brings the little girl to meet the Unicorns, they come to believe, Belief moves their life from gloomy and rain-filled, to sunny and color-filled. Belief moves Thomas from being filled with doubt to being filled with praise. Both John and Rosenthal are writing to help us recognize that belief leads to abundant life. As you read this text and story, invite your congregation to consider how their own experience and belief has led to life abundant.
