Peace, Baby! by Linda Ashman

(Written for ages 4-8)

Comment: “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace,” Jesus says as he weeps over Jerusalem. Even as we celebrate the excitement of Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, we know, as he does, what lies ahead. Holy week will be filled with fear, betrayal, denial—poor choices; these are choices that do not lead to peace, but broken relationships. Ashman’s book explores how the choices we make affect our relationships. In this final week of Lent, this text and story invite us to reflect upon our own choices and actions, and consider how they lead towards paths of brokenness or paths of peace.
