Come With Me by Holly McGhee

(Written for ages 5-9)

Comment: “Come and see… follow me,” Jesus says when people ask him what he’s doing and where he is going. I wonder if his disciples had any idea what they would see, do, and experience after they set aside their work to come with Jesus. In McGhee’s story, when a girl isn’t quite sure what to make of our sometimes frightening world, following trusted people who say, “come with me,” helps her to see that the way she lives can make a difference. With these readings, we are reminded that our lives reflect the teachings and values of the ones we follow. As you read this text and story, consider how your life has been shaped by the call to come by Jesus or by others.
