Preaching Text: Isaiah 6:1-8

Mighty Truck by Chris Barton

(Written for ages 5-9)

Comment:  J. Clinton McCann concludes his commentary on this text with these words of prayer: “As you cleansed Isaiah with a coal of fire to prepare him for proclaiming your word to the world, prepare us, so that we may know your bidding and carry out our callings with eagerness and urgency.” Much like Isaiah, Clarence, a really dirty truck, is prepared to carry out his calling as Mighty Truck after an amazing experience of being cleansed. Using this text and story, wonder together with your congregation about the ways God prepares each of us to live into our callings, say, “Here I am; send me,” and carry out God’s work in the world.
