How to Bicycle to the Moon to Plant Sunflowers by Mordicai Gerstein

(Written for ages 5-9)

Comment: In the opening to his letter to the Ephesians, Paul lays out God’s plan of grace, set into motion before the foundation of the world, a plan for the fullness of time. The boy in Gerstein’s story lays out an intricate plan as well, one that involves time, patience, and a whole lot of faith. The boy’s love of the moon and God’s love for us are the fuel for these complicated plans which give hope to the moon and the world.. As you read this text and story, share your own experiences of being a part of, or benefitting from, a plan executed in love.
