Imogene’s Last Stand by Candace Fleming

(Written for ages 5-9)

Comment: The Psalmist proclaims a God whose shepherding care is persistent, ever present whether we are safe or in danger, with enemies or with friends. Expand your congregations view of the shepherd God by sharing additional imagery of people who provide care, love, and nurturing beside the still waters and dark valleys of life. Imogene loves, cares for, and seeks to protect and defend the Historical Society in her home town. She is persistent in her care, even when her own safety is threatened. As you read this text and story, invite your congregants to share their own experiences of persistent love and care, and explore what these stories might tell us about God.
